So, I know that you have an old ratty bra in that drawer that should have been tossed about 3 years ago or maybe you are even wearing it and the underwire is poking you. I am totally with you! However, when I stopped nursing my daughter (okay, okay she stopped nursing when she realized that other people would hand her a bottle whenever she asked) my boobs had no resemblance to what they had once looked like and I am talking about way before pregnancy. They were a deflated balloon compared to what they were during pregnancy and nursing. So, I literally HAD to buy a new bra. Not a single bra in my possession came close to fitting.
Now keep in mind that I live in the middle of nowhere, in a town of 550 people and running to the mall to try on bras was totally out of the question. I was faced with mail ordering a bra. Dunt dunt dunt! My choices were to keep wearing nursing bras that were gaping on me or ordering online, having no idea my current size. I was truly frightened (although I am frightened of trying on bras in a store as well!). Bra shopping is right up there with trips to the dentist or getting your baby their shots, ya gotta do it, but you would rather be anywhere else!
I had seen Thirdlove advertised a few places and liked the idea of the memory foam cups. Sounded comfy, if it was good enough for my mattress, maybe it would be good enough for my boobs. On their website I started off with their fit-finder quiz, it asks questions about your current bra, as well as questions about you boobs and wham, bam thank you ma’am they give you a size (mine was a ½ size, WHAA?) and suggest a bra for you. I am pretty convinced that they suggest their t-shirt bra for everyone, so if you take the quiz please tell me if they suggest something different. They also had an amazing return/exchange policy, so I thought, why the heck not!
When the bra arrived I was, I have to say, shocked that it fit so well. I have always struggled with finding bras that fit my cup size well and as I mentioned above Thirdlove has ½ cup sizes! More options means a better chance of finding the perfect size. The part I was shocked about was that I had no idea what my current bra size was and I based my size off of an old Victoria’s Secret bra, that didn’t even come close to being the right size. Yet, the fit finder, using its advanced boobie science (at least that is how I am assuming it works) came up with the perfect fit. It was comfy in all of its memory foam, no tag glory!
A while later, I noticed that my boobs had made a comeback from the deflated balloon sadness of no more nursing. There was a bit of a cup overflow, I needed to go up a cup size or a ½ size. So, I grabbed my bra to check out what my current size was and there was nothing, because Thirdlove bras are tagless, the size and brand are printed right onto the band and it had all worn off. No, problem I will just go back and do that super advanced boobie science quiz again and I will get the perfect size. Problem solved.
Problem not solved, the quiz is based off of your current bra and I couldn’t remember what my current bra size was. I looked back though email to see if I could find my order, I tried to login to Thirdlove and apparently I hadn’t made an account! NOOO! It is a bratastrophy!! I procrastinated just ordering something because I didn’t want to order the wrong size. During my procrastination phase, I noticed that my third love straps started slipping off of my shoulders, the straps they claim to have some special no slip technology. I was quickly losing my ThirdLove admiration, they are not as good as I thought! Jerks!!
Finally desperate for a bra that my boobs weren’t overflowing from and that the straps weren’t constantly falling off my shoulders. I went back to Thirdlove, to try and figure out my size and maybe order something different than the t-shirt bra. I know, what you are saying, why go back? Well my friend, I had the same dilemma that I initially started with, I didn’t know my size, I needed to mail order, and they still had a great return policy.
Browsing their site, I noticed that they had a rewards link, just create and account and you get rewards for how much money you spend over time. So, I thought why not, if I order another bra later on I will get a free pair of undies and free shipping. I entered in my email and signed up, when I got logged in it popped up with my past orders and gave me credit for them, even though I wasn’t in the rewards program when I placed my first order, I mean, come on who does that? Also, it came up with my previous orders, there was my bra size, right there! Second also, there was also my order date, in 2017. Yep, that is right I had purchased my first bra nearly 2 years ago, no wonder the straps were slipping. They had put up a good fight, but the old girl was just tired. Third love suggests getting a new bra every 1 ½ to 2 years, to avoid exactly that problem. Maybe I’m the jerk for thinking they were jerks!
So, what did I do, I ordered another 2 of those comfy t-shirt bras, with the memory foam in a ½ size bigger and they are just as great as the first one. My conclusion, pay attention to your bra size, get new bras regularly, uncomfortable bras make you cranky & call people jerks and order from Thirdlove, they are a great company with super comfy bras.
